Translation

Simultaneous translation will be provided (from French to English and from English to French) for the opening plenary session Reflections on the History of the Revolutionary Left in Canada (November 13 at 7 p.m.) and the public event Organizing in the Face of Crisis (November 14 at 5:30 p.m.).

As this is a bilingual conference, participants may speak and present in the language of their choice. Translation of slides is encouraged.

Childcare and daycare costs

In order to support the participation of panelists with young children, we will reimburse childcare costs incurred for the duration of the conference. We also have an agreement with the UQAM daycare center so that panelists can enroll their children there during the conference. To register, please fill out the registration form as soon as possible to ensure you have a spot.

  • Faculté d’étude: select “Colloque novembre”
  • Cycle: select “Autre”
  • Proof of registration: this question is not mandatory; you can simply leave it blank (do not attach any files).

In addition, breastfeeding rooms and changing tables are available at various locations on campus.

Accessibility of rooms

The conference will take place on the UQAM central campus. The Judith-Jasmin (J), Athanase-David (D), and Sciences de la gestion (R) buildings have elevators and access ramps. More detailed information on access to the buildings and inclusive restrooms can be found on the UQAM website.

The Berri-UQAM metro station has elevators on all levels and escalators.

The Écomusée du fier monde, where the public event Organizing in the Face of Crisis will take place (November 14 at 5:30 p.m.), is also wheelchair accessible.

Posters will be placed at various strategic locations throughout UQAM to guide participants to the rooms where activities are taking place.

Transportation

A strike by Société de transport de Montréal (STM) employees is planned for the entire month of November, which will affect the metro and buses. Service will only be maintained during rush hour and late in the evening. We invite you to consult the STM website for detailed schedules and to plan your trips accordingly. Taxi services are still available, but demand may be higher than usual.
